Want to check out Stonehenge but can’t make the trip to England? ✈️ Just make your way over to Central Riverside Park, home to Wichita’s very own Stonehenge Jr. 🙀
Created in 2003 by artist Steve Murillo, this mini “replica” is also a working solar calendar. The stones mark the solstice and equinox at high noon. However, due to daylight savings time, this time isn’t always technically at noon. But don’t worry, we did the math for you!
If you’re planning to visit, the ideal days and times include:
🌞 June 21, 2022 at 1pm (Midsummer Solstice)
🍁 September 22, 2022 at 1pm (Autumn Equinox)
❄️ December 21, 2022 at 12pm (Winter Solstice)
🌷 March 20, 2023 at 1pm (Spring Equinox)
Check out some photos of Stonehenge Jr. below. It’s definitely a fun sight to see! 👇
